Mr and
Mrs. Tom Battle—owned first by brother Joe Battle
who still lives in Forest Hills. Tom and Brenda
have lived there two yrs. now. The House is at
10608 Fore Dr. The brothers see each other often
and grandchildren as well.
There is a new and wonderful protective bed at the
corner of the lot where drivers were cutting into
the grass. Now there is a great built up planting
of blood grass and yellow lantana with white rock
border—it stops the drivers from cutting through
and is very attractive. The yard is all green and
tropical in back with room for a boat and
motorcycles plus a garden shed. In front oaks and
crepe myrtles shade some of the lot. Brenda Battle
does most of the gardening and Tom says he does the
heavy stuff. Brenda has another hidden garden
inside their porch complete with a fountain.
Outside there are annuals for color and a wide
variety of plants plus some whimsical touches that
include a small angel in one bed, a heron in a
second bed and two large butterflies on the
entrance wall by the front door. It is very
welcoming. The trees include citrus, chinaberry,
oak, crepe myrtles, orchid tree, bittersweet,
ligustrums and palmettos. Lots of bromeliads,
impatiens, variegated liriope and other bloomers
make it cheerful.
